Lisa McCormack
I am excited to be a part of the Sego Group Family Counseling & Wellness team! I have a deep commitment to helping individuals, couples, and families find strength, connection, and joy through life’s challenges. I see each person as a unique mosaic, made up of beautiful and broken pieces that come together to tell a story. My goal is to help you understand and embrace your mosaic—honoring your past, building stronger connections for your future, and celebrating the beauty of who you are today.
Education, Professional Qualifications, & Experience
I am a Marriage and Family Therapy Intern pursuing my Master of Arts degree in Medical Family Therapy at National University. I hold a Bachelor of Science in Respiratory Therapy and have over 12 years of medical experience, including 10 years as a respiratory therapist and 2 years in sleep medicine, long-term care, and home healthcare. My background also includes hospital leadership roles, giving me a broad perspective on patient care across various healthcare settings.
Through this experience, I have supported countless patients and families navigating illness and medical treatment, deepening my understanding of how health challenges impact not just physical well-being but also mental health and family dynamics. As a Marriage and Family Therapist, I take a holistic approach, addressing the interconnected aspects of healing—body, mind, and spirit.
Areas of interest include:
-
Families, couples, and individuals, including teens and children.
-
Evidence-based practices with a strong emphasis on neuro-related strategies.
-
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Narrative Therapy, and Brief Strategic Therapy.
I help clients reframe their experiences, build resilience, and find creative solutions to life’s challenges. I believe clients are the experts in their own lives, and I strive to empower them with the tools they need to navigate struggles with confidence and strength.
A Little About Me
When I’m not working, I love life’s simple joys—movies with popcorn and Junior Mints, hiking, camping, and exploring new places. I believe in celebrating life’s big and small moments and encourage my clients to do the same.
As a single mom of four amazing kids, I understand the challenges families face. With years of experience working with children, including those with health issues, I enjoy helping families find creative solutions. Music has always been a source of joy—I’ve studied piano for years and love discovering new music. I also have a passion for cooking, especially creating allergy-friendly meals.
Life doesn’t always go as planned, but I believe we can still find joy and peace in the midst of it. If you’re looking for a therapist who blends medical expertise with compassionate care, I’d be honored to support you. Together, we can create a healthier, more connected, and fulfilling life for you and your loved ones.
